Mount Stromlo AR Heritage Trail

Visitors to the former Commonwealth Solar Observatory on Canberra’s Mount Stromlo can now see more than a burnt out building shell … the legacy of the devastating 2003 bushfires. Instead, they are treated to a behind-the-scenes look at the historic inner workings of the observatory thanks to an APositive Solution project with the Australian National University to augment information signs in the area with voice recordings and additional images. The interactive heritage trail adds a dynamic dimension to what would otherwise be a static information offering. It also offers scope for additional content to be added to the signs in the future without having to reprint them. Our augmented reality application integrates with Twitter, allowing visitors to share their thoughts about the heritage site on social media.
